Jun Terauchi, Ph.D.

Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Terauchi received his Ph.D. from Kyoto University, Graduate School of Engineering. He began his career in pharmaceutical research, core drug discovery research, and research strategy and management at Takeda Pharmaceutical. He became a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh in the US, and then moved on to Research Management at Ono Pharmaceutical in Japan.

In 2017, Dr. Terauchi was appointed as the chairman of the steering committee of the Japan Microbiome Consortium (JMBC) which he has been involved in since its launch, and concurrently serves as his current position. JMBC has been adopted by multiple national projects, jointly promoting with academia and other institutions. Dr. Terauchi currently serves as the R&D representative of the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), “Project Focused on Developing Key Technology for Discovering and Manufacturing Drugs for Next-Generation Treatment and Diagnosis”.

Dr. Terauchi assumes additional roles as the director of the Human Science Promotion Foundation, director of the Japan Biological Informatics Consortium (JBIC), and Vice Chairman of the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) R&D Committee.

Dr. Terauchi specializes in microbiome research, drug discovery research & strategy, project portfolio management, medicinal chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, and the central nervous system.
